Round & Square Bar

Solid bars for machining and general engineering.

Round, square, and hexagonal bars are solid steel for machining and general engineering — the raw material for shafts, gears, sprockets, pins, special bolts, and machine components. All products conform to SNI, ASTM, and JIS standards.

We carry several material classes to match your application: mild steel ST 41 / SS400 / AISI 1018, carbon steel S45C / AISI 1045, and alloy steels SCM 440 / AISI 4140, SNCM 439 / AISI 4340, and SCM 415 / AISI 4115. Stainless steel (201, 304, 310S, 316L) is available on request.

Material options & properties

Mild Steel

ST 41 / SS400 / AISI 1018

Low carbon steel (0.13 – 0.18% C) with a minimum yield strength of 185 – 265 MPa and good weldability. Offers a good balance of hardness, strength, and elasticity with good machining characteristics. Commonly used for industrial machine components.

Available sizes Round 5 mm – 3" · square 6 – 80 mm · hexagonal 9 – 65 mm

Carbon Steel

S45C / AISI 1045

Medium carbon steel (0.42 – 0.48% C) widely used in machinery manufacturing for its good mechanical properties, weldability, and machinability. Can be hardened to HRC 42 – 46; higher surface hardness is achieved by carburizing. Typical uses: motor shafts, gears, sprockets, pins, bolts, and automotive parts.

Available sizes 13 – 560 mm

Alloy Steel

SCM 440 / AISI 4140 / VCL 140

Chromium-molybdenum alloy steel. The chromium content provides good hardness penetration while molybdenum ensures uniform hardness and high strength. Can be oil-hardened to relatively high hardness levels — superior toughness, good elasticity, and good durability under hardening and heating conditions.

Available sizes 13 – 355 mm

Alloy Steel

SCM 415 / AISI 4115

Low alloy steel with chromium and molybdenum added for increased hardness depth (nominal 0.15% C). Generally carburized for use — case hardness reaches HRC 56 – 60 after hardening. Mostly used for pistons, transmission shafts, gears, and spindles.

Available sizes 25 – 210 mm

Alloy Steel

SNCM 439 / AISI 4340 / VCN 150

Heat-treatable low alloy steel containing nickel, chromium, and molybdenum. Tensile strength ±745 MPa and yield strength ±470 MPa, with superior toughness, machinability, and wear resistance. Used in power transmission gears and shafts, and aircraft landing gear.
