UNP (U-Channel) Weight Table (kg/m) — 2026 Reference

UNP (U-channel) is a hot-rolled U-shaped steel profile used for beams, frames, and machine bases. When estimating materials, the figure you need is almost always the same: what does UNP weigh per metre and per length?

How to read UNP sizes

UNP size is usually named by its web height, e.g. UNP 100 = 100 mm tall. The full spec includes flange width and web thickness, e.g. 100 × 50 × 5 mm. For the same height, a thicker profile is heavier — check the kg/m column.

UNP 5050 × 38 × 55.5933.5
UNP 6565 × 42 × 5.57.0942.5
UNP 7575 × 40 × 56.9241.5
UNP 8080 × 45 × 68.3450.0
UNP 100100 × 50 × 59.3656.2
UNP 120120 × 55 × 713.480.4
UNP 125125 × 65 × 613.480.4
UNP 150150 × 75 × 6.518.6112
UNP 160160 × 65 × 7.518.8113
UNP 180180 × 70 × 821.4128
UNP 200200 × 80 × 7.524.6148

The weights above are theoretical values based on the JIS G3192 standard at a steel density of 7.85 g/cm³. Market UNP profiles can vary slightly by standard — always confirm the dimensions. See the UNP channel page.

Tips for estimating

  1. Total the length of each size from the drawings, then multiply by kg/m.
  2. Use the 6 m standard length to work out bar count.
  3. Confirm the grade — usually SS400 / SNI; compare price per kg.
